Breaking News: Ethiopian Troops Enter Somalia

Ethiopian troops crossed the border and entered Somalia.

“Around 1,000 soldiers are heading in the direction of Beledehawa and Elwak,” a source in Dolo told Addis Neger online. Beledehawa and Elwak are towns along the Kenya-Somalia border.

According to the source, nearly 6,000 soldiers are also deployed on the border town of Dolo. Dolo is a town that border Ethiopia, Somalia and Kenya. The troops have reportedly been stationed in Dolo for the last three weeks.

Addis Neger analyst said that the objective of the move seems to divert the focus of the Islamic militant group, Al-Shabab, from Mogadishu, capital of Somalia. Al Shabab has a plan to control Mogadishu in the coming two days.

Ex-Somalia warlords from Juba and Bakol regions have been holding meeting in Addis Ababa last week with General Gebre Adhana, a former Commander in Chief of Ethiopian troops that was based in Somalia. The warlords hold another meeting with junior Ethiopian Army commanders in Dolo towns, a source disclosed.

Two weeks ago Prime Minister Meles suggested that he might re-send the troops to Somalia. “If the lives of AMISOM peacekeeper becomes under threat, and they ask for our support, we will not hesitate to send troops,” he said speaking to Journalists in Addis Ababa.

  1. A major scoop for Addis Neger! But you said nothing about developments in Somalia.

  2. wow..That is great! victory to Our Heroes!!!

  3. In 2006 Meles said he invaded Somalia because the UIC threatened Somalia’s Transitional Federal Government. Few weeks ago he said he will not send troops even if the TFG is threatened. He said he will send his troops only if AMISOM is threatened. Now he is sending troops to Somalia. This crazy guy knows how to make profit out of war. What a rotten soul!!!

  4. Ethiopians are killed by woyane bullet, poison and woyane-made hunger. It is very unfortunate but tyrants like MELES only prolong their reign by terrorizing their people and the people of their region.
Saddam Hussien was also invaded IRAN to visit his Masters (USA/UK) as Meles is doing now in Somalia. He will pay dearly sooner or later for the evil deeds and terrorizing human beings indefinately is not possible.

  5. It is not about Meles. It is about Ethiopia and our strategic interest. It is easy to write opinions after facts. It takes guts to show leadership during crisis, and Meles and Co. surely has one. I am fully behind him on this!

  6. Berket, Fully behind him, you sunded like Ledetu Ayalew. Woyane will never be recoginze as a goverment no matter what it does. We know he fund both side to make a war. Dream on if you expect any recognition.

  7. Ethiopia, especially Meles is not honest as far as the Somalia conflict is concerned. The Ethiopia interest is to see an unstable Somalia, so ethiopian soldiers back to Somali soil will add insult to injury the let other countries from the international community help this bleeding country Somalia

  8. “Al Shabab has a plan to control Mogadishu in the coming two days”?
So how far are they? How did you guessed the length?

  9. We must recognize that the weyane regime led by Meles Zenawi will fall apart soon. He must be responsible for all the wars in the region at large and in Ethiopia in particular.
We know that Our beloved brothers and sisters of all nationalities in Ethiopia are waging war at all directions. This has been intensifying and is strengthening. North ethiopia there is war, Nort west-there is, South and East-the same. All the fronts have been getting support from aboraod including financially and military.
Let us strengthen our unity and destroy the weyane regime for once and for all. Even Meles know very well that it is only a matter of time that his own troops and people will betray him. this has been a day by day event. Ethiopia has nvever been in the darkest age as now. With prayeer, accepting one another-LEt us all stand up to remmove this evil from the country.
We have beautiful people and great people. Hoever, We have been subject to a severe oppression, descrimination, humilation, murder, rape (by weyane troops in the rural areas), brutuality etc. LEt us be wise not to accept the weyanes and his western strategies of divide and rule. LEt us tolerate and accpet our differnces and let us thrive to make best out of our differences and commopns. All we need now is to be well organized and I assure you- Weyane will now last long……
Together we make a differnce. May God Bless All people in our Land
