* ጋዜጣው በርእሰ አንቀፁ “የማይሰበር ድምጽ-የፍትሕ ድምፅ” በሚል ርእስ ባሰፈረው ጽሑፍ በፍትህ የኤዲቶሪያል ነጻነት ጉዳይ በፍጹም እንደማይደራደርና መንግሥት ለመፍጠር የሚፈልገውን “የሎሌ ጋዜጠኞች ሰራዊት” እንደማይቀላቀል አረጋግጧል፡፡ ሎሌ ለመሆን ያልፈለጉ ጋዜጠኞች በተደጋጋሚ ተከሰዋል፣ ተሰደዋል ያለው ጋዜጣው በእስከዛሬም ፈተናዎች “የማያጎነብስ እና የማይቀነጠስ አንገት” እንዳለን አሳይተናል፡፡ ከዚህ በኋላም መንገዱ ብሩህ ባይሆንም ጋዜጣችን ከነክብሯ የደረሰችበት ላይ ትቆማለች አንጂ አትንበረከክም”ሲል ያለውን ጽኑ አቋም አስነብቧል፡፡

አቶ ጁነዲን፡- እኔ በግሌ ውጭ አገርም ተምሬ ስመጣ ማታም፣ ቅዳሜም እሑድም በግሌ ለመንቀሳቀስ ሞከሬያለሁ፡፡ የሥራ ጫና እንዳሁኑ ባልነበረበት ጊዜ፡፡ ይህንን ለሰው ሁሉ እመክራለሁ፡፡ ለምሳሌ ሰኞና ዐርብ የበአል ቀን ሲሆን የመንግሥት ሠራተኛ በጣም ደስ ይለዋል፡፡ ሦስት ቀን በተከታታይ እረፍት ስላለው ነው፡፡ ይህ ሰው ሦስት ቀን ተከታታይ እረፍት ሲኖረው ምንድነው የሚያደርገው ተብሎ ሲታሰብ ሬዲዮ ነው የሚያዳምጠው (ሳቅ)…አልጋው ላይ ተኝቶ፡፡

Temesgen Desalegn of the Amharic weekly “Fitih” was reported to be detained in the central Federal Police investigation office and released on a 5000 ETB bail.

Police officers who questioned Temesgen told him that a charge of defamation is lodged against him by the only “independent” member of the Parliament Dr Ashebir Woldegiorgis. Ashebir’s complaint is based on a story featuring him entitled “The man from Bunga,” his birth place.

Temesgen was also called recently to the offices of Bereket Simion and Shimelis Kemal. The famous duo tsars of freedom of speech in Ethiopia told the editor that “this is the last warning for you.”

Awramba Times newspaper has disclosed its preparation to file a suit against the daily state owned Newspaper, Addis Zemen, published by the Ethiopian Press Agency, and its Editor in-Chief. Addis Zemen has published a number of “false criminal allegations against” the newspaper and it caused “serious moral injuries on staff members”, the statement issued in Addis Ababa stated.

Earlier on, police had stormed a wedding ceremony and arrested three suspected top commanders of the Oromo Liberation Front (OLF).

Among those who were arrested was the wedding’s best man who was flushed from the ceremony as he sat next to the bride.
Police said the three are wanted in Ethiopia for questioning on various undisclosed crimes. The officers who arrested the men added they posed a security threat to the country, though they did not elaborate.

“We have no reason to present this in any other way,” The New York Times Assistant Sports Editor Tom Connelly told Letsrun.com in response to the allegation by Haile Gebreselassie and his agent Jos Hermens that the newspaper fabricated a statement about undue government pressure on the athlete and attributed it to Jos Hermens. “The New York Times stands by its story. Jeré[the reporter] reported what he was told. We reported the story correctly,” Connely said. This story has more twists and turns.
